Traci Timmons Founded Thespian Arts Program to help all people explore their creativity and emotions in a safe environment, regardless of experience. A graduate of the NW Actors Studio Conservatory, she has been a professional actor, singer, teacher, director, producer and administrator for many years. She ran programs for YTI, Bendheim Performing Arts Center, Broadway Bound at CGPAC and Music Conservatory. She also taught for Lighthouse Youth, Forbes Music, Tarrytown YMCA and JCC-on-the-Hudson. She did educational touring theatre with TALK and Seattle Public Theatre, was a Producer and Co-host for Word of Mom Radio and had admin positions with The Family Repertory, Runaway Theatre, and Darknight Productions. In November 2021 she obtained her NYS Real Estate License, helping people find their dream homes.
Thespian Arts Program teaches theatrical, vocal and physical techniques in a fun, nurturing environment; which fosters a respect for the arts and a positive, professional attitude. We believe in theatre education as a force for a better world. Children who participate in theatre learn to use their voices and bodies properly and feel more comfortable in their own skin. They gain confidence, helping them not only as performers, but in every aspect of life. By becoming members of an ensemble, they feel safe to stretch themselves creatively and emotionally. Theatre helps them find their own special place in the world giving them a sense of belonging. Students learn the skills of memorization, concentration and teamwork which aid them in being more socially adept and having less fear in everything they do. They do better in school, make stronger choices, feel more confident about speaking up and become more successful people.
Studies show that creative projects and hands-on learning can hone skills in literacy, math, history, science, public speaking, memorization, and research better than traditional education programs. Students feel safe and confident expressing emotions while learning about discipline, commitment, teamwork, and taking pride in and ownership of their work.
We support and encourage the leaders of tomorrow by meeting each student where they are. Top educators in the fields of theatre, music, dance, creative writing, public speaking and visual arts are dedicated to the betterment of our community through this enrichment designed to uplift and empower our youth. We work with students of all skill levels, providing a safe space where they can stretch themselves to take risks and try new things.
