Sheena Jongeneel is the Latina founder of Stylette, the first curated rental platform for high-end kidswear (think Rent the Runway for kids) that makes shopping for your family sustainable and cost effective. Potential topics to explore include: How to Be a Single Mom & a CEO, The Future of Kids Fashion, Knowing When to Pivot, Fast Fashion+the Environmental Impact, Why the Rental Business Model works in Today's Economy.
After a series of life changing events including a divorce, the passing of her mother, graduating business school and leaving her 20 year career in wellness, Sheena knew life was shifting. One night while organizing her daughter's closet, she noticed the flower girl dress she had recently spent a small fortune on would no longer fit her daughter. She wore it once. Sheena recognized the need to solve for a problem that all parents face-the exorbitant cost of children's clothing and the growth spurts rendering those clothes useless. As a single mother, she wanted to create a platform that helped parents upcycle+dress their kids in an affordable yet seamless manner without sacrificing style. Today Stylette uncovers the most sought out brands from emerging designers around the world and brings accessibility to parents through their specialty rental platform.
Stylette's motto is "Fashion for Our Children, Passion For Our Planet." Renting ensures your garments don't end up in landfills and get multiple uses. A staggering 25 billion pounds of textile waste ends up in landfills every year which create toxic greenhouse gases and further contributes to global warming. The rental model reduces your carbon footprint by 80%. Stylette works closely with baby2baby and Rewearable ensuring all unusable garments are donated or upcycled.
