Media Projects, Inc., is a non-profit organization that has been producing and distributing documentary films for over 40 years.
Cynthia Salzman Mondell is an award-winning filmmaker and playwright who believes that films can make a difference in people's lives. IN HER SHOES is her current film, and she is working tirelessly to work with organizations so it will make a difference in the criminal justice system. She has partnered with Allen Mondell for most of her work, and they both founded the non-profit organization Media Projects Inc. The Mondells have made over 41 films together, including six films about the life, death, and legacy of President John F. Kennedy for the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza.
Other works include Sisters of '77, the story about how a government-funded women's political conference set the agenda for the Second wave of feminism (with Betty Friedan, Gloria Steinem, and Ann Richards), and DREAMS OF EQUALITY for the Women's National Historical Park. Sisters of '77 was broadcast on PBS | Independent Lens. A personal documentary, LOUIE, LOUIE: A Portrait in Parkinson's, explored Salzman Mondell's family's struggle to cope with their father's 30-year battle with the debilitating effects of Parkinson's disease.
She is also working on the SOLE SISTERS film project that explores women's identity through their relationship with their shoes, mirroring her play SHOE CONFESSIONS. Salzman Mondell's awards include two Lone Star Emmys, the Women in Film's Topaz Achievement Award, and a national Women In Film and Television Gracie Award.
She is one of the founders and a past president of Women In Film Dallas, past president of the steering committee of New Day Films (a nationally known independent film cooperative), and was an artist-in-residence at the University of Texas at Dallas.
