           The Social Marketing Toolbox on Word of Mom Radio

   When I decided to start University of MOM last year, my goal was to give information to MOMpreneurs that might be receiving from other sources. I like to think of it as “the inside scoop” on what you should know about business. Of course a lot of things that I share on UMOM are things that I’m learning as I pursue my own business goals. So a lot of tips and tools that I share are hot off the press. I just learned them myself.

But now that I’ve been sharing for a while I want to take the opportunity to focus on what really makes a business successful, outside of obvious things like giving great products and customer service, not taking on too much debt too early or growing too quickly. What can you do everyday to make more people aware of your business? These tips and insights I believe you will find extremely useful as you prepare to start and grow your business.

I have found a ton of resources, websites, webinars and seminars that are available with a lot of information (some of it more valuable than others). But the thing that I find that is missing is what to do with all of this information. Exactly what should I focus on when I sit down in front of Facebook? Do I really need PR? If so, how do I go about getting it? What should I do for 20 minutes a day to get in front of the media with my product or my expertise? I know a lot of people and I have hundreds of contacts but they all know what I’m doing, why aren’t they sending me business or calling me when they need my product or service?

All these issues are inherently linked by one common thread. They are all social in nature. They each require you to carry on a conversation, get connected and engage in some sort of conversation. But how do you find time to do this everyday? That is what we’ll be discussing every week on “The Social Marketing Toolbox”. How should you use social marketing as a tool to grow your business rather than frustrate you because you do not have the time or a plan to adequately accomplish your goals?

We’ll lay out a plan for your day to give you the time and the knowledge of what exactly you need to do everyday to broadcast your message louder through social marketing. Nothing is more frustrating than knowing that you ought to be doing something but not having any idea what it is you should do or who to ask about doing it! I’ve been there and felt that!
