Life as a MOMpreneur!
It was really a pleasure to share with all of you not only about Alma & Co. and who we are as a company but also a little bit about myself and my life as a new mom —hardest job ever!
Last night, as I was thinking about this blog and searching through Hulu, I ran into a reality show. Then the inspiration came: You see, Betheny (now you know which show) was talking about her deal to sell her margarita drink to the biggest spirits company. She developed the concept for Skinnygirl margarita mix and began taking the idea to distributors. But selling her mix in the male-dominated liquor community proved to be pointless. “No one was interested,” she says. “Instead of giving up, I said, ‘I want this, and I know other women will want this, so I’m going to make it.’” Now, she was about to make her dream come true.
That reminded me of why I started this journey with Alma & Co: I wanted to enjoy my family. Even if it is a day filled with jewelry orders, tons of emails, or meetings, I’m able to be at home (most of the time) where I can cook healthy meals, keep the house (relatively) tidy, and still be able to be there to see our little baby boy grow up. I’m also fortunate to live with a dadpreneur, so we are able to balance out our schedules to take care of our son. For the cherry on top, both our families live close by, so we have plenty of babysitters if we need a break.
Most importantly, her words reminded me of how essential perseverance is in all aspects of life. Raising my other baby, Alma & Co., is definitely not an easy path. In fact, it is a path full of challenges. It’s necessary to be flexible, creative, open to new possibilities while keeping focus in the main goal. And that’s the beauty of it! I’ve come to learn that satisfaction and rewards come when we choose the more difficult, challenging paths and commit to the service of others instead of ourselves. The vision for Alma & Co. is to turn it into a global brand. This is only the beginning!
Alma & Co. has become a vehicle to craft a life we all love. I love knowing I can have a positive impact on people’s lives by giving them the ability to become entrepreneurs with our modern home-based business platform and to have the opportunity to create a legacy for our child (children hopefully). I really enjoy getting to know all of these amazing women, who are living life in their own terms: creating a balanced family life, giving back to a cause and making money in the way. Really, what’s not to love?
Finally, I’m very grateful for about the opportunity to have been on Dori’s Word of Mom show on MomTV (Thursday June 16). Thank you Dori. You rock!
