A Facebook Experiment from Janice Clark

Social Media Experiment1 (1)

Several years ago people were frustrated and confused about how to get more engagement out of their work on Facebook.  Small businesses didn’t understand what to post or when to post it.  They needed help and I decided to provide them with a solution that would let them take matters into their own hands.

I came up with an experiment we called The Edgerank Experiment.  Although the post is old, you can read more about what we did right here (http://www.bizmsolutions.com/node/72).

The experiment was a huge success! I invited small business owners to join me in this experiment.  We had a call and I shared my knowledge of Facebook with them.  I shared information about what we had found to be working on Facebook and we brainstormed to help each other get more creative with our posts.  We created a networking partnership that led to more posts and engagement for the people who participated regularly. It was all completely free!

The world has changed since we ran our last Facebook experiment.  Businesses are no longer frustrated, they are completely fed up! Facebook has been steadily dropping our reach and unless you have money to spend on advertising, you can almost count on being all alone on your Facebook page.

In addition, studies show that, on average, 90% of social media members do NOT participate in online conversations.  They lurk, or silently view content and observe conversations between your business and others.  Just 10% are actually going to engage in conversation!

According to Forbes, 82% of your customers trust you more if they can find you on social media sites and 81% just simply expect you to have a social media presence.

The frustrations…

With 1.23 billion people on Facebook, it’s a tough site for you to ignore as part of your marketing efforts. Surely a few of those 1.23 billion are your target customers?

Only a teeny, tiny little percentage of those 1.23 billion people even like your Facebook page

None of the ones who do like your page are actually commenting or engaging with your Facebook posts

Only a few of your fans can even see your Facebook posts

90% of the fans who do see your posts won’t do anything about it

You’d still better be on Facebook or your target audience won’t trust you!

Your clients simply expect you to show up on Facebook!

It’s enough to drive a small business owner crazy! Heck, it’s enough to drive a big business owner crazy!!

Your options…

You could spend a lot of money on advertising but unless you have a well laid out plan and great content that drives people to your site to buy from you, you’ll just be wasting your money.

You could keep complaining about Facebook.  Of course that still doesn’t solve your problem.

Or you could join me in the latest version of our Facebook Experiment.  It’s a completely free experiment in a friendly networking environment where you can feel free to learn and you’ll get the opportunity to meet other Facebook page owners and hear what others have done to increase engagement on their Facebook page.

 The challenge…

I challenge you to join me!  Start by liking my fan page at BizMSolutions Facebook Page.  Leave a comment and tell me you’d like to be a part of my experiment.  Make sure you leave a link to your fan page as well.

Then share your name and email address here so you’ll be notified of our first call.
